Custom Italian Charms

Despite the tens of thousands of Italian charms on the market, it is inevitable that many people will want their own custom charms. Or perhaps, you want to create your own line of charms for re-sale.

Most of the major manufacturers are not real interested in making charms for other companies. Certainly, big brands like Disney or Coca-Cola could find a willing supplier, but for other’s this can be a challenge.

Private Label Enamel Charms

We spoke with Gina Eckstein of Linx & More and were interested to find that they do have private labeling programs in place for servicing companies that are interested in developing lines of Italian made charms. Minimum orders typically run about 1000 charms and lead times can be over 30 days, but the charms produced are hand painted in Italy and made from the highest quality materials. These custom charms have also become popular as corporate incentives and advertising specialty items.

Laser Charms

If the minimum order requirements surrounding custom enamel charms are a concern, all hope is not lost. Laser charms are the most common method for customizing Italian charms. The laser etches, or engraves, a name or figure into a stainless steel link. The grayish color that results from the engraving can be read clearly. Some companies even use a filler with their engraving machines that adds ink to the charms, however those are few and far between. Numerous wholesalers and manufacturers offer custom laser charms with minimum orders typically ranging from 10 to 100 links. Interestingly, some retailers have even gotten into the game and will sell 1 custom laser charm.

Photo Charms

Photo, or picture charms, place a picture into a link and then bake that picture onto the link with clear resin. This creates a lasting memory that you can take with you everywhere. Some wholesalers offer programs that service retail orders for photo charms and there are many online retailers that will process orders fro consumers.

For individuals looking for a single custom hand painted charm, you probably just have to find an artist. For instance, Staley Wessel accepts orders for hand painted links at www.itty-bitty.net.
